Continuing military occupation of the North and East of Sri Lanka.

Latest figures released by an investigative journalist Logathayalan, from Sri Lanka, reveals the extent and the intensity of military occupation in Jaffna district by the Sri Lankan military, Naval, Airforce and Police personnel. He provides the following statistics:

The number of Secret camps established throughout the north and east cannot be confirmed.

The security forces occupy 4,507 acres of private land in an area of only 1,025 km² in Jaffna district. These security installations prevent Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of 9,564 families totaling 33,286 people to be resettled and access to livelihood opportunities.

Despite numerous promises made to the international community, the Sri Lankan government has not reduced its military presence in the North East and it continues to occupy private property. Current president Mr. Maithiripala promised the electorate that he will vacate all private lands within a year of coming into power.

BTF calls upon the UK government and the UNHRC to immediately request the Sri Lankan government to vacate private properties and resettle the IDP’s in their own land. It is almost 10 years since the end of the war, Sri Lankan military is continuing its war on Tamils, by occupying their private lands and denying them access to their economic livelihoods.

It is regrettable that the international community pays no attention to the plight of the war affected Tamils in the North and East of Sri Lanka.

வடக்கு கிழக்கில் தொடரும் இராணுவ ஆக்கிரமிப்பு

வடக்கு கிழக்கில் குறிப்பாக, யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் சிறிலங்கா இராணுவ ஆக்கிரமிப்பின் வீச்சும் ஆதிக்கமும் அண்மையில்ஊடகவியலாளர் லோகதயாளன் மூலம் வெளிக் கொண்டு வரப்பட்டுள்ளது.

அவரிடமிருந்து பின்வரும் புள்ளிவிபரங்கள் கிடைக்கப் பெற்றுள்ளன.

வடக்கு கிழக்கில் செயல்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கும் இரகசியத் தடுப்பு முகாம்களின் எண்ணிக்கை உறுதிப்படுத்த முடியாதுள்ளது.

1025 சதுர கிலோமீட்டரேயுள்ள யாழ் மாவட்டத்தில் குறைந்தது 4,507 ஏக்கர் அளவிலான தனியார் காணிகளை அரச படையினர்ஆக்கிரமித்துள்ளனர். இதனால் 9,564 குடும்பங்களின் 33,286 தமிழ் மக்கள் மீளக் குடியேறுவதும் அவர்களின் வாழ்வாதாரத்திற்கானநிலம்இ நீர்இ கடல்பரப்பினை பயன்பாட்டிற்கு உட்படுத்துவது தடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

சிறிலங்கா அரசு சர்வதேச சமூகத்திற்கு பல தடவைகள் கொடுத்திருந்த உறுதிமொழிகளை மீறி வடக்கு கிழக்கில் இராணுவப்பிரசன்னத்தை குறைக்காமல் போர் முடிவடைந்து 10 வருடங்களின் பின்னரும் தனியார் நிலங்களை ஆக்கிரமித்து வைத்துள்ளது.

தற்போதைய ஜனாதிபதி மைத்திரிபால சிறிசேனஇ தான் பதவிக்கு வந்து ஒரு வருடத்திற்குள் இராணுவ ஆக்கிரமிப்பிலுள்ளதனியார் நிலங்களை மீளக் கையளிப்பேன் என்று தேர்தல் வாக்குறுதி வழங்கியிருந்தமை இங்கு குறிப்பிட தக்கது.

தனியார் நிலங்களை மீளளித்து இடம்பெயர்ந்துள்ள தமிழ் மக்களை தம் நிலங்களில் மீளக் குடியேற்ற அனுமதிக்குமாறு சிறிலங்காஅரசினை பிரித்தானியாவும் ஐ.நா.மனித உரிமைக் கழகமும் (UNHCR) நிர்ப்பந்திக்க வேண்டுமென பிரித்தானிய தமிழர் பேரவைகேட்டுக் கொள்கின்றது.
