The British Tamils Forum welcomes the new Prime Minister Theresa May on behalf of the Tamil Community and wish her every success in making Britain a country that works for every one of us. As a community, the British Tamils will contribute to a successful future of this country.
We are very grateful for our former Prime Minister David Cameron for shining a light on the Tamil victims of war for the past 30 years of conflict in Sri Lanka.
In particular, David Cameron was the first Prime Minister to visit Jaffna since the war ended and called for an International Independent Investigation into the allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Sri Lanka. We sincerely thank him for serving our country and his contribution to Human Rights issues affecting Tamil people in Sri Lanka.
We urge our Prime Minister to continue the legacy of David Cameron in seeking for justice, accountability and demilitarisation in Sri Lanka. We urge her government to continue the efforts at UNHRC to establish a truly independent international investigation in Sri Lanka.
