Anti-Tamil pogrom July 1983 – Remembrance Day

The British Tamils Forum has organised a vigil meeting to remember the Black July 1983, an anti-Tamil pogrom which saw a large number of innocent Tamil civilians were killed by Sinhala mobs in the Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo.

The Tamil people around the world will be marking the 7th anniversary of the massacre of up to 70000 innocent Tamils civilians including women and children by the Sri Lankan military, leading up to the culmination of the war in Sri Lanka, in May 2009.

Human Right in Sri Lanka: The case of detainees and disappearances.

During the final stages of the 2009 war between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and the Sri Lanka’s forces, approximately 18,000 Tamils, alongside political leaders of the LTTE Mr. Nadesan and Mr. Pulithevan, surrendered to the Sri Lankan security forces. Six years on, there is still no knowledge to the whereabouts of these Tamils.
